Leaping Ahead....

Woah..........how has your February been? There was a real cold snap here in Canada, eh? I’m happy that spring is around the corner.

On Feb 1, when I wrote last, I shared intention to ‘un-silence’ myself. What timing. I didn’t know what was coming!!! (Assuming you have seen the political tensions in Canada this month) For February, I challenged myself to interact more on social media by commenting instead of just hitting ‘like’ or ‘share’. I think I did alright! LOL Believe it or not....there was a lot I didn’t say!!!! I got stuck a bit on FB. I still need to figure out Instagram.

I also expected to share some new tunes that I was working on during the month...however, they took a backseat as songs I wrote 5 years ago, rose to the surface. As you know, the Truth and Reconciliation Report issued a ‘Call to Action’ to Canadians in 2015. It was this request that spurred me to record and share my music to begin with. If I look at the events of the past month its clear that I wasn’t the only one who heard the call.

On Feb 29 of 2016, I took a leap of faith and committed to the EP that you hear on Susanoquinn.com. Back then, I decided to begin a 4yr self directed learning program. I am still not really sure the start date and I may have taken a semester or two off. HA Let’s look back —

So.....Feb 29, 2020. How will this leap year unfold? Today I ordered a keyboard for a 6-month guided songwriting/coaching course I’m in. It is geared towards crafting sound for TV/ADs/Movies and stuff. Basically, that means learning to write using structure and an end goal rather than from inspiration or channeling. The very opposite of what I’ve done to date!!. I’m optimistic!!! Its a relatively small group of artists from all over the world. There is a lot of skill in the group and...I have a WHOLE lot to learn.

So far...this ‘unsilencing the self’ has been pretty fun. I have til tomorrow to figure out what March‘s focus will be ....(minus the course that is). Any suggestions?
